Our Goals
- Finish construction on the Ackerman Sports Complex. This project is well underway and should be completed on time and on budget.
- Keep the Park District taxes under control. In a time where our residents are tightening their belts, the Park District must also cut spending by eliminating waste and unneeded capital projects.
- Expand the Park District website to include public documents such as as budgets, expenditures, board packets, policy manuals, long-range planning and other documents that give insight into the state of the Glen Ellyn Park District.
- Broadcast all Park District Board Meetings, either by Internet or cable TV
- Institute on-line or email surveys for all program participants in order to further improve program offerings. This is currently done for some programs such as dance and football.
- Improve the quality of the playing fields so that athletes have safe, dry, playable fields for their games and practices. Coordinate maintenance and grass cutting schedules for optimal performance.
- Provide access to Ackerman Woods by building a walking path.
- Focus on park beautification with increased plantings at parks. Place emphasis on litter prevention and cleanup in all park areas.
- Remove poison ivy and invasive plants such as buckthorn and garlic mustard weed from all natural areas.
