Jay Kinzler
Jay Kinzler and his wife, Jennifer, have been residents of Glen Ellyn for over fourteen years. Their daughter Allie attends St Francis High School and their son Andrew attends St. Petronille Grade School. Jay is currently serving as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Jay is a practicing medical doctor and specializes in urology and kidney transplantation. Jay's practice is in Elmhurst and he practices out of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. During his career as a physician, he has served on several hospital committees including the Ethics Committee, the Quality Resource Management Committee of the Board of Trustees, the Surgical Review Committee and Cancer Registry committee.
Jay gained experience in the budget process as a member of the Board of Directors of the Elmhurst Physician Association and the Elmhurst Outpatient Surgery Center. As a board member for the Elmhurst Outpatient Surgery Center he helped turn an unprofitable venture into a profitable one and was re-elected by his peers twice to continue to serve in this role. Currently, Jay is the Secretary/Treasurer for the Chicago Urological Society (CSU). Last year, CSU ran a $40,000 deficit and with change in management, they are now in surplus. In 2008 Jay was elected by his fellow surgeons to be Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. By running his own practice, Jay gained an understanding of the importance of maintaining a high quality service while at the same time watching expenses and balancing a budget.
Jay is involved in many community activities through St. Petronille Church, school, Park District and the Home Owners Association of Danby Woods. He enjoys coaching his children's sports teams. At the Park District Jay has coached soccer, basketball, football and baseball programs. He is most active in the Glen Ellyn Youth Baseball Association (GEYBA) and has served in several leadership positions there. Last year Jay organized a joint fall baseball league with GEYBA and Lombard baseball, which required careful coordination between two baseball organizations and two separate park districts.
Jay served as a Commissioner of the Environmental Commission of the Village of Glen Ellyn for five years. He was the liaison for the Prairie Path and Great Western Trail clean up and the Village recycle event.
